Battle of the Mk 2's
Jun 13, 2005
Scottish rally enthusiasts turned out in their thousands to see the McRae clan in action on Sunday 12th June.
Jimmy, Colin and Alister entered the 60th anniversary County Saab Scottish Rally Championship National Rally. It is thirteen years since all three McRae’s competed on the same event. In 1992 Colin won the Scottish Rally, Alister was second and Robbie Head just pipped Jimmy for third.

“It is very nice that the McRae family feel they can support their own event and entertain the Scottish spectators especially as they drove similar cars”, said Clerk of the Course, Jonathan Lord.
The atmosphere on the stages was electric with fans waiting in anticipation of seeing the Former World and British Rally Champions performing in comparable machinery.
Colin co-driven by Nicky Grist set the pace for the Mk 2 Escort’s. If they had not lost time repairing the Escort when it was stuck in 6th gear due to a bolt coming out of the gearbox linkage they would have gained a podium finish.
Jimmy and Alister had a fierce battle with father finishing only 11seconds behind Alister.
